SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.
The virus that causes COVID-19 probably emerged from an animal source, but is now spreading from person to person. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.Read More
Dear distinguished colleagues and our world-class students, at this trying times I bring you a message of hope. With all of us working together we hope to stem the tide of the corona virus pandemic in Nigeria and hopefully return back to work and our studies. I commend the outstanding efforts of the Governor of our state, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the health team led by Professor Akin Abayomi, the Honourable Commissioner. As a university, we had closed teaching and deferred the 24th convocation ceremonies all in our efforts to ensure that there is no transmission of the infection in our university. As part of our continuing efforts, we have now launched a COVID-19 page on our university website. It will provide up-to-date information about the pandemic and useful tips to cope. Do visit the page frequently. I urge you not to live in fear but to obey instructions given by government authorities and do not share false information. Please avoid large gatherings, stay at home, wash your hands with soap under running water, maintain social distancing as advised to prevent the infection. We shall overcome.
