SOME SPECIAL SOLUTIONS OF DICONFLUENT HEUN EQUATION IN ELEMENTARY FUNCTIONS BY EXTENDED NIKIFOROV-UVAROV METHOD
The present study extends the well-known Nikiforov-Uvarov (NU) method to the Di-Confluent Heun's equation, which arises in various branches of mathematical physics. By adapting the NU method to this class of differential equations, we derived several distinct forms of analytical solutions. Each of these solutions corresponds to a specific set of eigenvalues, which were explicitly determined in the process. To begin, the fundamental steps of the Nikiforov-Uvarov method were outlined, including the transformation of the original equation into a hypergeometric-type form, identification of the appropriate parameters, and construction of the corresponding eigenfunctions. Through these steps, complete solutions to the Di-Confluent Heun's equation were obtained. The results confirm the effectiveness and flexibility of the NU method when extended beyond its conventional applications. Although the standard NU technique is typically limited to differential equations with at most three singular points, this study demonstrates its successful application to the Di-Confluent case. This suggests that with appropriate modifications, the method may also be extended to Confluent, Bi-Confluent, and Tri-Confluent Heun's equations for broader applicability.
